Day 10 is in the bag. We were up early and on the trail before the sun was even up. 280 miles to go today and we thought it was going to take all day like yesterday. But, the roads were real fast and before we knew it we were here. We are going to take a day off and do some sightseeing and get some rest.
We saw a place where there were about 20 of these birds hanging out on the fence posts. As we drove along they would take off and fly down the road a bit and land on another post just in time for us to drive by causing them to repeat the process.
The roads were lined with these yellow flowers.
Saw our first pronghorn today.
Then there was the field full of sunflowers.
There is a family run business near the New Mexico border who cater to TAT riders. You can tent, rent a cabin, and work on your ride.
Here is the last mile of the TAT. There is a huge mudhole back in there and lots of sand. Be careful!
Soon, we were in New Mexico. They took down the welcome sign. Not very welcoming. It made a great photo op.
The trail goes through a ranch on some pretty rough roads. The FJ took it all in stride.
The scenery is quite nice. The views were amazing.
Soon we were near the end where you climb the side of a mesa on a very rough narrow road. At the bottom were six TAT riders taking a break. They moved over and let us by. We never saw them after that. Yes, that is rain.
Branson, Co was next on the list. It’s not the TAT without a picture of the jail. Word is this jail was never used except for two drunks one night.
The rest of the ride into town went without issue. We did see this guy posing on a fence post.
Soon after checking in, the skies opened up and we had heavy rain and hail. There is a ring of mud around the FJ. I wonder how that happened.😳
Some data about our day.
