We got an early start and made good progress throughout the day.  For the most part the roads were pretty good and we only got turned around once.

Highlights of the day were Oark General Store for pie, the views from the mountain ridges we were on and driving down Warloop Rd.  Finding gas in Mountainburg was a challenge, but we were able to find some south of there.

The dirt roads ranged from excellent to unreal, with Warloop Rd being very unreal.  Steep and very rocky with one place where Sharon had to get out and watch as I drove off an 18″ ledge.  She was watching to make sure I didn’t hit the side of the ledge with the tire on one side and go off a steep incline on the other.

Some of the views this morning were marred by heavy fog in the valleys but as the day wore on the clouds and fog disappeared and we had some good views.

Really nice mountain streams every once in awhile were fun to stop at even though the scenery was usually ruined by the ever present 12 pack of beer boxes strewn everywhere.  I don’t know why people have to throw their crap out into the roadways.

The weather is supposed to hold out for the foreseeable future, our only worry is the upcoming holiday.  We will be in CO and things are filling up fast.  Hopefully we will be able to find a place to stay.
