After leaving New Albany, we had a short drive back to the trail.  Our previous tour guide with the attitude, Jill, has been fired.  We realized that she was slurring her words and we suspect the she was drinking on the job.  Jill has been fired with prejudice and will be unable to collect unemployment compensation.  Best of luck to you.

Our new tour guide is a Sheila from down under named Karen.  Karen is a former county beauty queen and her mum tells us she will unload a dishwasher without any further prodding.  Welcome to the tour Karen!

There seem to be a lot of jaywalkers around these parts.  Here’s a whole bunch of turkeys crossing the road.  Why?  Who knows. Going to Target maybe?

We see a lot of turtles crossing the roads too.  Lost count, but we have been diligent to not run them over.  I am sure he has important business over in those weeds.

Today we had the opportunity to drive on 2 levees today.  The first was was OK, the second one was a mess.  Plus, there must have been a gozillion (look it up) dragon flies out there.  we kept thinking about our Canadian friends behind us how they are going to react to this.

Upon reaching the Mississippi River, we drove on into West Helena to get a room for the night.  WH is a pit.  The Best Western there, which is another pit charges nearly $85 for there rooms and that doesn’t include the pitbull that you will need to rent to protect your vehicle.  We jumped on the interwebs and found a really good rate at the Isle of Capri Casino for $56.  The rooms were nice and quiet and we had a fantastic meal in the main restaurant.  Not the buffet or the express but the Main restaurant, I think its called Otis & Henry.  The best cornbread I have ever eaten.  And as a southern raised boy, I scarfed down quite a lot of cornbread no I know of what I speak.

We didn’t go in the casinos as the smell from the cigarette smoke was overwhelming.  I hate cigarette smoke.
